This session will help you learn the financial and settlement responsibilities of Groups of Five, things to keep in mind when completing the settlement plan form, the relationship between the Sponsorship Cost Table and the RAP rates when calculating the minimum level of financial support and important post-arrival considerations when providing financial support.

  • Info Session: LGBTQIA+ Refugee Sponsorship

    Join RSTP and Rainbow Refugee for a virtual info session on LGBTQIA+ refugee sponsorship.

    Rainbow refugee will share on the importance of having specialized programs to sponsor LGBTQIA+ refugees to Canada and will provide information about the Rainbow Refugee Assistance Program (RRAP) and how it works.

    They’ll also talk about their experiences with the Blended Visa Office-Referred (BVOR) program and will elaborate on the differences between the two programs.

    Participants will also learn about special recommended considerations to make when welcoming LGBTQIA+ newcomers and when assisting with their settlement in Canada.

    Please note: this monthly webinar is strictly for Constituent Groups (CG) and Co-Sponsors of Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs).

    This session will provide an orientation on the responsibilities of CGs and co-sponsors when working with SAHs to sponsor refugees under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program.

    The following topics will be discussed and examined during the workshop: the relationship between CGs, co-sponsors and SAHs; the minimum amount of financial support that sponsors are expected to provide to refugees sponsored under the PSR program on arrival based on the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) rates and how to use the Minimum Financial Support Calculator; situations that may change the amount of financial support that sponsors are expected to provide once the refugees arrive in Canada; an overview of sponsors’ settlement responsibilities under the program and how settlement agencies can assist sponsors with fulfilling their settlement responsibilities; and, an overview of IRCC’s post-arrival assurance activities.
