RAP (Resettlement Assistance Program) Rates
The Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) is a contribution program through which the Government of Canada provides income support and other assistance to resettled refugees to establish themselves in their new home.
RAP income support consists of two components: 1) Start-Up Costs and 2) Monthly Income Support. The Start-Up Costs are typically a one-time payment and is standardized for all provinces. The Monthly Income Support is provided on a monthly basis and varies by province.
The minimum level of financial support that SAHs, Groups of Five and Community Sponsors must provide to refugees sponsored via the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) and Blended Visa Office Referred (BVOR) programs must match the prevailing RAP rates in the expected community of settlement. Sponsors are also required to follow RAP polices when providing financial support. Click here for further information on the financial support requirements for sponsors.
The Minimum Financial Support Calculator can assist sponsors with calculating the minimum level of financial support based on the RAP rates. Sponsors can also refer to the individual handouts on this page for information on Start-Up Costs (for all provinces) and the Monthly Income Support for each province.
