You will also learn how to work effectively with privately sponsored newcomers\, their sponsors\, and other settlement professionals. \nThe course has five modules: \n\nIntroduction to the Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program\nThe Role of Sponsors\nRights\, Responsibilities\, and Expectations of Privately Sponsored Newcomers\nIRCC Program Assurance\nThe Role of Settlement Workers in Private Sponsorship\n\nEach module includes readings\, videos\, activities\, a quiz\, a discussion forum\, and extra resources to support your learning. \nThis is a self-study course. You can complete the course at your own pace during the 5-week course period. DESCRIPTION:COURSE DATES: 19 Jan – 22 Mar 2026 \nABOUT THE COURSE \nThis introductory course is for those who are interested in learning about the private sponsorship of refugees. In this course you will learn about the different types of sponsoring groups\, the Canadian immigration programs for refugee resettlement\, refugee and sponsor eligibility requirements\, the application process\, settlement planning\, calculating the sponsorship cost\, overseas processing\, and post-arrival responsibilities. \nParticipants will also be able to engage with the course facilitator\, and other participants\, and enhance their learning by participating in weekly video chat sessions and discussion forums. \nENROLLMENT IS NOW OPEN \n1. Watch the Demo Video to learn how to create a user account if you don’t already have one. REMEMBER to write down/save your login username and password. \n2. Request enrollment here to be added to the course. You can expect to receive a confirmation email usually within 24 hours (M-F during business hours). \n3. Register for the Course Orientation Session here ( happening on Monday\, 19 Jan 2026 at 4:30 pm Eastern). This orientation session will explain the course format\, the quizzes and the final exam as well as due dates\, grading\, and navigating the eTraining platform. This orientation session will be recorded and posted in the course dashboard for those unable to attend the live session or needing a review.

DESCRIPTION:This information session is specifically for organizations who have been incorporated for at least two years\, and who intend to apply to become a SAH in 2024. In this webinar\, you will learn about the eligibility requirements\, the application process\, and the required supporting documents for applying to become a Sponsorship Agreement Holder.   \n  \nYou have the option to participate in one of the following sessions:  \n(please note\, the same information is shared in each webinar. Please only register for one session only) \n\n24 JUL  2024 | 11:00 AM EDT – REGISTER HERE\n21 AUG 2024 | 6:00 PM EDT – REGISTER HERE\n\nIf you intend to apply to become a SAH in 2024\, please:\n\nRegister for one of the above Teams webinars to learn about the process\, and\ncomplete the RSTP Mandatory Training Pre-assessment Form.  If your organization is eligible\, prepared and ready\, you will be added to the waitlist for the Becoming a Sponsorship Agreement Holder Course (SAH101) and notified when it becomes available for enrollment.\n\nABOUT THE MANDATORY ETRAINING COURSE The SAH101 etraining course is a mandatory requirement for organizations who intend to apply to become a SAH in 2024\, and have:\n\nbeen incorporated for at least two years\,\nprevious experience in private sponsorship and settlement of refugees\,\nthe financial and human capacity to sponsor multiple undertakings each year.\n\nThis course is designed to provide participants with essential information about the eligibility requirements\, the SAH application process\, the SAH Agreement\, SAH financial and settlement responsibilities\, as well as best practices for monitoring and working with constituent groups/co-sponsors. The mandatory e-training course must be taken by:\n\nthe head of the organization\,\nthe organization’s main contact for refugee sponsorship\, and;\nany signing authorities who will be designated as representatives for submitting sponsorship applications on behalf of the organization.\n\nParticipants can work through the materials at a pace and time that works best for them\, however they are expected to spend approximately 6 hours to complete the course materials\, and to obtain a minimum passing grade of 60% before a certificate will be issued. When will the mandatory SAH course begin? The course becomes available when the application submission period opens for 2024.
