Description: The RSTP and Immigration Services Guelph-Wellington (IS-GW) are conducting this workshop to provide an overview of sponsorship, explain application forms and provide updates on new changes to Private Sponsorship of Refugees. There will also be a hands-on forms review and Q&A with the specialist. A mobile computer lab will be available for interested clients to type their forms and have questions answered. Description: York University's Centre for Refugee Studies and Syria Response and Refugee Initiative (www.yorku.ca/refugees) are hosting a workshop by the RSTP on Month 13 Planning for private sponsors and the interested public. Sponsors and attendees will learn about: the post-sponsorship relationship and the dynamics of this relationship; when sponsors need to start preparing newcomers for Month 13; and the role of sponsors during the "transition period," including important tasks to consider. Description: The workshop will provide an in-depth look into sponsoring refugees under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program as a Group of Five. Topics covered will include: the specific requirements for Group of Five Sponsors sponsoring under the PSR program; eligibility and admissibility requirements for refugees being sponsored by Groups of Five; the sponsorship process; which forms need to be completed; how to complete the forms; and, a step-by-step guide for Groups of Five Sponsors on how to prepare and submit a complete and successful application package. Description: The Refugee Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP) and the Refugee Sponsorship Support Program (Refugee SSP) is hosting a free information session for sponsors and newly arrived refugees who will learn about: The requirements for refugee sponsorship; The refugee sponsorship application process; and, Other potential immigration streams available to newly arrived refugees to bring their family and friends to Canada. The session will be conducted in English, and attendees will have the opportunity to consult with pro bono lawyers from the Refugee SSP during the session.
