Checking the Status of an Application

Refugee applicants can also check the status of their sponsorship application online anytime from anywhere (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). Principal Applicants can check the status of their application by visiting the following link, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/index.asp, and clicking on ‘Find out the status of your application’ and following the prompts. Principal applicants will need to input their Application Number/Case Number, Surname/Family Name, Date of Birth, and Place of Birth.

To check the status of an application in process, visit IRCC’s Client Application Status (e-CAS) tool.

Entering the file number provided by ROC-O (e.g.: 9-digit B number or hyphenated 8-digit Client ID number) and the full name, date of birth and place of birth of the principal applicant, you can check at what stage of the processing your file is currently at.

If the average processing time at the visa office abroad has been exceeded and you have received no further communication from the visa office, you may send a case specific enquiry form to the responsible visa office abroad. Contact information for visa offices can be found at: www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/information/offices/apply-where.asp

To inform ROC-O of any changes to the application, including changes in family composition (marriage, birth, divorce, death, etc.), contact information, official representative or withdrawal of an application, contact the office by email at IRCC.INROCO-CORORI.IRCC@cic.gc.ca IF the file is still in Canada. To update information, while the file is being processed overseas, contact the Canadian Visa Office directly (see link above).
